CAMERON MOTORSPORTS DRIVERS HEAT UP IN FLORIDA
"Di Meo wins twice in DD2 and Ostella earns two podiums"
Hamilton, Ontario - January 9, 2007 - Some impressive results have
been posted for the Hamilton, Ontario based Cameron Motorsports CRG
National Race Team in Homestead, Florida this past weekend. Team drivers
running in Rotax and DD2 brought home four podiums and all drivers
had strong outings at the first event of the Florida Winter Tour.
The Cameron Motorsports sponsored DD2 class saw rookie 2 stroke driver
Michael Di Meo, who raced at the front of the pack, rewarded with
two wins on the weekend after a competitor was disqualified. Michael
was ecstatic with his first experience at the wheel of the potent
CMI/CRG/Rotax DD2 combo. DiMeo exclaimed, “This is amazing,
I am so happy with the results, Trevor’s input kept me at the
front all weekend.” Di Meo, a new driver on the CMI team is
under the guidance and expert hands of tuner Trevor Wickens. Wickens
will work with Di Meo next weekend in the 125 ICC shifter where Michael
will make his debut in the headline class. He is confident and his
tuner Wickens is no stranger to the animal he is tuning.
In Rotax Max Junior, David Ostella kicked off his season with two
second place finishes after qualifying ninth Saturday and eighth on
Sunday. David drove his Cameron Motorsports CRG kart, tuned by driver
coach/tuner Mike Roth, to podium finishes on both days. Teammate Alex
Ellis qualified ninth, on Sunday moving to eighth in the prefinal,
he ran a strong race in seventh place in the final before being taken
out in a racing incident. Scott Laporte, after struggling in qualifying,
drove a strong race in the prefinal moving fourteen positions.
In Rotax Max Senior, a class with many veterans, Cameron Motorsports
drivers Lennie, Barnes, and Menotti - all rookies this year - had
a great weekend and at some point were all running within the top
25 in a field topping over 47 drivers. Impressed with the teams results
Mike Roth, the National Team’s Manager said “This team
has impressed me, we set goals upon arriving in Florida for testing
this past December and they have challenged every goal and more than
met them.”
Cameron Motorsports CRG National Race team will stay in Florida and
gear up for this weekend's Group B Round #1, where ICC drivers Vincec,
Raimondo, and Di Meo, ICA drivers Jolly and Napier, JICA drivers Ostella
and Carrothers and Cadet drivers Matteus Makos, and Julius Makos will
