April 14, 2008 - Cameron Motorsports senior star Michael Vincec begins a world-wide tour for CMI/CRG this week when he jets off to Paris on Saturday. The Ontario native will be testing for the upcoming opening round of the CIK-FIA European Championships in Angerville, France, with famed CRG SpA. The first in a three-round Championship that will also visit Mariembourg, Belgium, and Varennes s/Allier, France, Vincec will debut in Europe contesting KZ2 in a field of over one hundred!

“With a field like that my hopes going in are to just get into the final race and hopefully come out with a good result,” Vincec said as he prepared to leave for his second Euro-test session. “As for the test, I expect to just get a feel for the race track and the difference in rubber.”

The EKN #3 ranked shifter pilot in North America won’t be alone in France when action begins May 1st as CMI/CRG teammate Cody Jolly will also be in the KZ2 field and fellow CRG driver and North American #1 Gary Carlton will make a return to Europe and race KZ1. “It’s helpful talking to someone who’s done it before because it prepares me for what to expect,” Vincec said of discussing the differences of racing on the continent with Carlton. “I ask him about the tracks, the competition, just little general questions to get an idea of what it’s like.”

Though competing in the 2007 Rotax Max Challenge Grand Final brought valuable experience in managing heat racing and working toward a final event, the European Championships are sure to be a new experience with over 100 karters vying for spots in the Sunday final. This is the second time a Cameron Motorsports driver has ventured overseas, as the team also assisted David Ostella in racing JICA in both Belgium and Italy with CRG SpA during the 2006 season. “Of course I can’t thank Cameron Motorsports enough for the opportunity I have right now,” Vincec said of going to test a second time and race the European Championship. “Without them, it simply wouldn’t be possible.”

Between testing this week and the actual Championship opening event, Vincec, Jolly, and members of the Cameron Motorsports International Elite Team will be at Miller Motorsports Park in Utah as the Snap-on Stars of Karting West Division kicks off April 25th. From there, the North American trio will head to CRG in Italy and travel with the factory team to France.
