Hamilton, Ontario – August 21, 2008 - Cameron Motorsports/CRG heads to Sumner, Washington, this weekend looking for its second Stars of Karting Division Championship of the summer. Michael Vincec captured the ICC Eastern Division crown in mid-July and will be looking to do the same beginning tomorrow on a temporary course near Seattle. Completing the lineup as the Western Division wraps are Curtis Fox, Miles Maroney, Chad Grunow and Scott Saunders. Vincec enters with an overall point lead in the West yet when a single permitted drop is applied he and fellow Canadian Jordy Vorrath are tied on top with 260 points. Fresh from winning the Canadian National ICC Championship, Fritz Leesmann is third at 230 while reigning National Champion Gary Carlton sits at 219 - a perfect two hundred coming from the opening Western event at Miller Motorsports Park. Vincec has built his West leading total based on a win and third-place finish at the Race of the Americas and a fifth at the Division opener. Joining him in ICC will be Curtis Fox making just his second start of the season. In looking to be eligible for the Stars of Karting Season Finals and primed for SKUSA SuperNationals XII, Fox debuted at Wisconsin in dramatic fashion. He qualified sixth on Saturday, and by the end of heat three a day later he trailed only Carlton and Vincec to the checker. Cameron/CRG will also have a pair of drivers seeing duty in JICA as Californian Miles Maroney and Saskatchewan’s Chad Grunow take to the track. Maroney debuted with Cameron Motorsports at the Mazda Race of the Americas and promptly went 2-4 in a pair of heats to earn pole for twin mains. After running to fourth in the first and matching his National Number for 2008, Maroney climbed the podium in third after race two and jumped all the way to fourth overall in the Western Division. He heads to Seattle at 220 points and looking to improve on the 336 total he earned in the East. Grunow also made his debut with Cameron/CRG at the Race of the Americas and also showed dramatic improvement. After trouble in the first heat lead to retirement, Grunow moved forward to fifteenth in heat two. Then having to face the Last Chance Qualifier, Grunow took a half-second off his quick time for the weekend before being bumped from contention to transfer. This weekend he makes his first starts with Pitts Performace JICA power and will be after continued improvement in his sophomore season. Scott Saunders completes the Cameron/CRG lineup as the Australian returns to North America to wrap the Western Championship. Despite carrying a technical disqualification from his first start, Saunders sits fifth overall, ten points from third and just sixteen from second. Saunders stamped his name on Stars when he won the first TaG start at the Race of the Americas and backed it up with a return trip to the podium on Sunday in second. He will be another Cameron/CRG pilot looking to maximize his standing heading into the Stars of Karting Season Finals in Las Vegas.
