Hamilton, Ontario – August 4, 2009 – Cameron Motorsports/CRG heads to the Canadian National Championships this week with a team fifteen strong and having recently rediscovered its winning ways. Primarily a force in DD2 and Rotax Junior, the team will also be looking for a national championship in Micro-Max beginning Wednesday at Goodwood Kartways in Stouffville, Ontario.

An even half-dozen will line up in DD2 as Brian Stewart Racing Karting Championship regulars Enrico Menotti, Eric Simon, Brendan Bain and Tyler McEwan are joined by returning pilots Curtis Fox and Michael Di Meo. Of the leading quartet, each has been on a regional podium this season and stood among the top three. Simon led off at Sutton, Menotti was on the blocks at Mosport, McEwan stood tall at Flamboro, and Bain followed a win in a Goodwood qualifier with second this past weekend at the Ontario GrandNationals. Already a strong lineup, it was only made stronger with the return of Di Meo and Fox in time for the provincial and national championships. Di Meo showed he hasn’t missed a beat in taking pole and winning at Shannonville, and he also sat on pole and won a heat race last year at Nationals before ultimately finishing fifth. Fox is also on form, consistently a sly one over a race weekend working forward. He set the fastest lap in the national final last year, and last weekend at Shannonville he qualified fifth, advanced to second in the prefinal and led the final before being forced to retire.

It’s much the same story in Micro-Max where Tyler Ripani and Taegen Poles have been podium regulars in regional action. Ripani was the points leader heading to Shannonville and he extended the margin in winning his first GrandNational Bear on Friday. It was his third win from four regional starts on the season. Poles set the quickest time in Shannonville qualifying and won the prefinal before taking second in the main event. She, too, has been on the podium in each of her four regional starts and will be looking to continue that form through the weekend.

The Cameron/CRG junior squad will perhaps be the largest at nationals as seven will suit up looking to secure a trip to Egypt and the 2009 Grand Final. Jeffrey May, Reid Arnold and Dylan Oribine are the veterans of the group while Max Preston, Luke Chudleigh, TJ Froates and Chase Pelletier will be competing at nationals for the first time. May and Arnold have each been on the regional podium this season and along with Oribine and Preston have been fixtures at the sharp end of Ontario competition. Froates also has regional experience in Rotax Junior while Chudleigh has come across from F1-K Junior and Pelletier is a rookie at the junior level.

Hamilton, Ontario – March 12, 2009 – Canadian-based Cameron Motorsports/CRG and US-based SSC East/CRG will combine resources to campaign the 2009 Snap-On Stars of Karting Championship. Both camps are proven race winning CRG teams with experience in both North America and Europe.

The stated goal of this new strategic partnership is to combine the talents, resources and knowledge of both teams. Bringing together some of North America’s most talented drivers and experienced tuners will benefit the performance of both organizations. This past weekend was the first event of this new partnership and things went extremely well. With eight drivers under the tent and great results on track, this winning formula will certainly lead to great results.

KF3
Phil DeLaO (SSC East/ CRG) was the only driver from either squad to enter into Stars newest CIK class, KF3. The only way to describe his KF3 performance this past weekend is near perfect. A second place in Heat 2 was the only blemish in a string of firsts that started in pre-qualifying. DeLaO was able to top the charts on three straight days, making him the man to beat in this new class.

Joining DeLaO was 2008 Canadian National Honda Junior Champion Reid Arnold (Cameron Motorsports/CRG). Arnold had a strong run all weekend with consistent top tens including a third in Heat 2. In the feature the racing gods did not shine his way and a Lap 5 incident while running in fifth put him back to 16th. He is certainly deserving of the hard luck award.

KZ2
A total of five drivers competed in the renamed KZ2 class including two of North Americas best. Canadian Michael Vincec (Cameron Motorsports/CRG) led the way finishing second in the final. Vincec was fast all weekend, qualifying on the pole on Friday. Next to cross the stripe was Cody Jolly (Cameron Motorsports/CRG) coming in fourth after a string of solid runs. Jolly was very competitive all weekend with a strong finish as a reward. Arie Ouimet (SSC East/ CRG) crossed just behind Jolly taking the fifth spot. Ouimet had to brush off the cobwebs, as the last time he raced a shifter kart was in mid-2008. By the end of the weekend Arie was as fast as the leaders and took home the Hard Charger award. Next through was Alex Manglass (SSC East/ CRG) tucking in right behind his teammate to finish sixth. Manglass’ hard work this winter paid off with a very competitive weekend. Getting the hard luck prize in KZ2 might be the always fast Gary Carlton (SSC East/ CRG) who ended a tough weekend in eighth. After three straight wins in the heats put him on pole for the prefinal, his luck ran out. A DNF from contact in the prefinal and a DNF for a broken chain left the perennial favorite looking for better things to come when Stars of Karting hit the track at Infineon Raceway in April.

Hamilton, Ontario – March 6, 2008 – Next time you head to the horse track and think about putting money on win, place and show, think about the group at Cameron Motorsports/CRG. Cameron Motorsports/CRG, based out of Hamilton, Ontario Canada captured the Stars of Karting East, West and National titles in the top ranked Intercontinental C (ICC) class in 2008, and then went on to log two more industry accolades.

“We are very proud to win the National Title in ICC at STARS,” comments Trevor Wickens, Cameron Motorsports/CRG Team Manager. “CRG provided us with great support and they gave us what we needed to win. The results speak for themselves.”

The Race of the Americas held at the famous New Castle Motorsports Park outside of Indianapolis, IN was a major turning point for the team. A big win and strong podium gave the Men in Black momentum that would carry them through the rest of the season. The finale in Las Vegas was the crowning event, giving this northern team a big win and a National title.

With National title trophies in hand, and thoughts already turning to 2009, the awards and recognition just kept coming.

Up first, Trevor Wickens was named Mechanic of the Year by eKartingNews.com. Wickens began wrenching on his brother Robert’s kart over ten years ago. Words like professional and impeccable are often used to describe Wickens’ style.

Only a few days later, to complete the tri-fecta, Michael Vincec was named Driver of the Year by eKartingNews.com. In a recent feature article, Vincec was described as “fast and consistent”, clearly a combination that delivered results. This final piece put the exclamation mark on a great season for the entire Cameron Motorsports/CRG crew.

2009 will start in a big way with the Stars of Karting opener in Ocala, FL this weekend. For the upcoming 2009 season, Vincec will return to defend his national championship crown in the newly named KZ2 division of the Stars of Karting program. Wickens and Vincec will be making the trek back to Europe in September to compete in the World Championships in Sarno, Italy with CRG in the ultra competitive KZ1 classification.

Most teams can only for one such success. This is a team I wouldn’t bet against in 2009.

Hamilton, Ontario – March 5, 2009 – Cody Jolly, 17, of Houston, Texas will rejoin the Cameron Motorsports squad after a brief intermission in their long partnership. Jolly first began competing under the Cameron Motorsports/CRG banner in 2006 having run in both Intercontinental A and Intercontinental C.

“We are very happy to have Cody back with our program,” comments Trevor Wickens, Cameron Motorsports/CRG Team Manager. “Cody does a great job with the little seat time he is able to fit into his schedule.”

Completing his senior year at St. Thomas High School located in Houston, Texas, Cody has his sites set on attending the Rose Hulman Institute for Technology, located in Terra Haute, Indiana to study mechanical engineering. With a busy school schedule Jolly could be one the drivers to certainly benefit from the new testing rules in the Stars of Karting Series.

Jolly will compete in the newly named KZ2 classification in the Snap-on Stars of Karting Championship for both the East and West divisions. Turning the wrenches for Jolly will be veteran tuner and former world tire changing champion Brian Bettencourt.

“I am very happy to be back with Cameron Motorsports,” comments Jolly. “They are like a family and always give me their best support.”

Jolly along with the rest of the Cameron CRG team will begin their assault on a second national title in the KZ2 class beginning March 6th at the Ocala Grand Prix in Ocala, Florida, host of round one for the Eastern Division of Stars of Karting.
